How does a group gift work?
It is one present several people chip in for. There are two addresses: a public one to pass around to whoever takes part, and a private one for whoever receives the gift, showing how much was collected and everybody’s messages.
Does someone need an account to chip in?
No. They open the link, pick how much to give, sign their name, leave a message if they want and pay by card. No account, no app to install.
Where does the collected money go?
Onto your Stripe account, one contribution at a time, not when the collection closes. The total on the page is the sum of the contributions that went through: if one is refunded, it drops out of the total by itself.
Who can see how much each person gave?
That is yours to decide. Names and messages show only if you turn them on, single amounts can stay hidden, and on the public link you can drop the running total as well. The page of whoever receives the gift always shows the total: that is what it exists for.
How much can one person give?
You set the amounts: a list of figures, or a minimum, a maximum and a step. Whoever chips in picks from those, so no one-euro contributions and nothing off the scale.
Do I need an account to open a group gift?
Yes, your own account: you create it at the end with an email and a password, free and no card. The public address of the collection, the one you will pass around, is picked later from your profile.
